Happy Mother's Day to me!!!!

It's a bird?!  It's a plane?!   Oh wait, it's just super Colin and his dog flying dog Luna.
For Mother's Day Colin and Hudson took me on a biking adventure.  I must admit my first reaction was, -ahhh it's mothers day can't we do something I'm good at - but quickly the thought of being outside with my family on a gorgeous day supplanted my initial negativity.  AND thank goodness it did because it was a great outing!!  Turns out I'm not such a bad biker after all, not as good at flying as Colin is but I can hold my own biking.  We went up the mt. to 14A where the highway is closed, I highly recommended it for anyone who is arein the mood to try something new, huge views and easy biking!

 Still lots of snow.
 Lunch time!
Hudson is growing up faster than I ever could have imagined.  He is no longer content to sit around and watch while his parents have all the fun.  He now likes to participate in everything.

Dad, I had to include this one for you. Notice the Acklin Brother's Construction hat? I thought you might be able to use it in your new marketing materials...the possibilities are endless for the tag lines you could come up with using this picture.

Not only did C & H treat me to a day of fun in the sun, they also gave me a handmade all from recycled materials gift!  They sure do know the way to this mama's heart. It was a happy day indeed!

Juice - the best way to start and end the day

Hudson LOVES making juice!  Recently, his dietary habits have been changing from a fruit & veggie loving vegetarian to more bread and meat please (see below).  But he still loves his juice which makes me to  happy to know he is a least getting some vitamins.

He gets pretty bossy and knows exactly what he wants.
And what to do with it.

Thanks for the awesome vintage Wyoming cups Linnea, Brian, & Noah!
More please!
The best part is definitely his juice mustache, apparently fresh juice stains so it sticks around most of the day.  Making juice with Huds is one of my favorite ways to start the day, but ending a long day of school with a glass of juice is seriously the way to go!  If you need an afternoon pick me up I totally recommend it.  I usually crave something sweet after school and am in need a quick boost of energy because Hudson is ready to go.  I wish I had a mom who was waiting for me to come home with freshly baked cookies but alas I don't.  It's probably healthier this way.  I started grabbing my left over juice because it was quick and easy to consume. I can't believe how satisfying and energizing it is. Try it

Homemade Fresca - seriously the best after school snack.
1 lemon
4 grapefruit
2 apples
add cucumber, romain lettuce, kale or spinach for more vitamins - but it won't be as pretty.

Juice. Chill. Add sparkling water. ENJOY! We had the almost the best Mother's Day yesterday, just missing our far-away Mothers and Grandmothers :(, pics and details to come!

FAMILY road trip 2012!

We just got back from the second annual Betzler family MT road trip. What a blast!!!  Last year we were able to tour around Montana a bit for Colin's work, it was so much fun that we thought we would do it again... but this time without the work component.  The weather wasn't the greatest but that didn't hold us back!

We spent the first night in Fairmont Hot Springs.  Hudson liked the Hot Springs so much he was up at 5:30am the next day ready to go, asking for more agua, over and over, until we finally gave it or should I say dove in (hahaha).  It was awesome, we would highly recommend it, we got in late and left early, but it is definitely a place you could spend some more time.  Not only did they have indoor/outdoor hot spring pools (4 total) but they had a water slide that put Thermopolis and others to shame.

Philipsburg MT here we come...this is an old house that Colin remembered from his first trip to the area in 1999 with his dad and brother fishing (err, looking at colleges).

Our mom-proclaimed vegetarian child has changed his ways. He got one bite of Colin's italian soppranto or something like that and there was no giving it back.

Me and Hud at East Fork Reservoir on Friday.

Catching some zzz's while hiking the West Fork of Rock Creek...fishing wasn't open this high yet, otherwise there'd be a rod in this photo.

A couple of Hudson's most-prized forest sticks.

Hiking Friday with dad near East Fork Reservoir.

We were the only ones spending the night at the Kaiser Inn, Philipsburg (nominal $, recommended) and woke up to snow saturday, not exactly the fishing weather Colin was hoping for.  He was able to get out early for a few hours though...no fish were harmed but he had a few hits.  He wanted me to remind any readers that 7 am on a 30-degree morning during run-off is not the most ideal time to catch fish in Rock Creek, MT.

Not a bad place to try though.

Bozeman on the way home, Hudson insisted on taking Luna for a walk and scolding her the whole time.

We rounded out the trip with a  stay at the Grand Hotel in Big Timber MT, a quiet town on the Yellowstone just south of the Crazy Mtns.  Breakfast was great (and included!) and we really had fun checking out a few of the smaller destinations on this trip. Happy to be home to Sheridan though, the best community we saw by far!
